It's a beta
Boffin Battle is in closed beta. Things may break, change, or reset without notice — including mid-game (sorry in advance). Don't expect anything to be permanent yet.
House rules
- Pick a nickname you'd be happy to see on a telly in someone's living room. Hosts can kick players, and we can revoke beta access for abusive names or behaviour.
- Don't attempt to disrupt games, probe the service, or share the beta password publicly.
- Question packs are for playing, not for scraping or republishing.
The service
The game is provided as-is, free of charge, with no warranties and no guarantee of availability. We may suspend or discontinue it (or the beta) at any time. Our liability is limited to the maximum extent the law allows — which feels proportionate for a quiz game about naming planets.
Content & copyright
Question packs marked official are ours. Where an official pack uses images, audio or other material made available under an open licence (for example Creative Commons or public domain), we credit the source on our credits page, as the licence requires.
Community packs are created by their authors. If you create or upload a pack — including any images, audio or other media — you confirm that:
- you own it, or have all the rights and permissions needed to use it and to let us host and display it;
- it doesn't infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, image or other rights, and isn't unlawful, defamatory or offensive;
- you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and use it to run the game; and
- you'll cover us (indemnify us) against any claim, loss or cost arising from content you submit.
You keep ownership of what you create — this licence just lets us run the game with it. We may remove any pack, or content within it, at our discretion.
Copyright complaints
We respect intellectual property and expect our users to as well. If you believe something on Boffin Battle infringes your rights, email [email protected] with a link to the content and enough detail to identify it and confirm you hold the rights — we'll review and remove it promptly. Accounts that repeatedly infringe may be suspended or removed.
